We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handling & Picking Operative to join our team at John Scott Works. The role involves handling large steel materials, loading and unloading wagons, and accurately picking and checking orders to ensure operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and sideloaders to move and store materials
- Load and unload wagons with large steel products
- Accurately pick and prepare orders based on specifications
- Carry out checking and verification of parts prior to dispatch
- Ensure all materials are handled safely and in line with company procedures
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Follow all health & safety regulations at all times
- Support general warehouse and yard duties as required
Essential Requirements
- Valid forklift licence
- Experience operating a sideloader
- Proven experience loading and unloading wagons, particularly with large steelmaterials
- Strong attention to detail, especially in picking and checking parts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Good understanding of health & safety practices
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a steel or heavy materials environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
